Released during her inaugural season the P&O film ORIANA:Behind the Scenes:From Bow to Stern the film takes a look the operation of ORIANA from her Crew's point of view and also at the spaces which useally go unseen by her passengers from the Captain's Lounge and quarters located below the bridge to ORIANA's carpenters workshop located directly below the open crew deck in the very bow of ORIANA.
Everyone willing to take part ORIANA's Master at the time Commodore Ian Gibb himself took part by giving a brief run through of his day and a tour of the bridge and it's various systems as can be seen in the extract below.
Filmed a Mediterranean cruise in May 1995 as described in a previous post it marked the first meeting of ORIANA with the aging QE2 who for the first time in many years had a new build rival that in the eyes of some exceeded her in terms of external elegance.
"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
