ORIANA's Technical systems

It may not cross the mind of the passengers who cruise on ORIANA that below decks there is so much different technology ensuring that they are having the perfect time onboard.
These range from the stabilizers ensuring their comfort to the desalination plant which provides them with fresh water.
The most important of these are her medium speed diesel engines, to operate them ORIANA carries 2346 tonnes of heavy fuel oil which is heated to 30 degrees centigrade to allow it to be pumped around her fuel tanks before being heated to 130 degrees for combustion in each of the engines which generates electricity for both her propulsion and other onboard systems.
With all her fuel tanks full ORIANA has a range 5,800 nautical miles or 10,741 Km

Another vital system is the water desalination plant which allows her to convert sea water to fresh water. Although ORIANA takes on fresh water in port in the main most is produced onboard from sea water by her two desalination plants which combined can produce 1,200 tonnes of fresh water per day.
