Environmentally friendly

When ORIANA entered service in 1995 she was as well as being the most technologically advanced ship in service among the most envionmetally friendly.

Her hull design shaped to the optimum form to allow to easily cut through the water with reduced drag means that she is required to use less fuel to achieve higher speeds and instead of the waste heat and gas from her engines being simply being emitted from her funnel it is first sent to ORIANA's set of reclaim boilers.

ORIANA's paintwork also has its role in the ships environmental impact since no harmful chemicals were used in its creation.

With the introduction of energy saving light bulbs, P&O made it compulsory for all ships in the fleet to use them, decreasing the amount electricity each ship expends on lighting.
