"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."

History in the making revised
To coincide with the 20th anniversary of ORIANA's entry and the start of a new era for her we are proud to revisit some of our earliest posts "History in the Making" in which we looked back over the conception, design and building of ORIANA.
Originally published in early 2011 in these new updated posts we add extra material, extracts from an interview held with ORIANA's first Master Commodore Gibb and footage of the ship herself during those early days to bring what we hope will be a more complete version of the genesis of a super liner from "Project Gemini" to ORIANA. So we hope once again you will join us on this remarkable journey into ship design as we meet those who made ORIANA a reality.
