Welcome to the newest blog of MV ORIANA, the oldest ship in active service in P&O's fleet and from April this year the oldest built ship.
ORIANA is a well knowed ship worldwide, with her graceful lines, authenticity and british style of cruising, she has caught the eye of many cruisers and ship lovers in all corners of the World, making the best wonders for those who sail on her and for ship photographers.
It was with great enthusiasm that i've founded this blog, in which i'm looking forward to post about a cruise ship i've being seeing and photographing since my childhood, in and out of Funchal, my place of birth located on the lovely sub tropical island of Madeira.
And it's with great pleasure that i'll have the contribution of Steve Martin, also a huge ship lover with a special taste for ORIANA who kindly agreeded in sharing his deep knowledge of maritime matters in this blog. All introductions made, let's set sail on this great journey around ORIANA's 16 years of history full of great moments, events and photos from various ports worldwide.
João Abreu
"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
