Ponta Delgada was visited today by P&O's ORIANA, on her first of the three calls scheduled for this year.
This emblematic ship arrived by 7 am on a rainy day from the Princess Cays in the Bahamas and is on the terminal phase of a 35 night Caribbean cruise, having visited 13 ports in 9 countries.
Ponta Delgada was the last call before returning to Southampton on the 12nd.
With its 1800 passengers, ORIANA sailed from the Azores capital by 6 pm.
ORIANA is scheduled for next week, on the 16th, this time Ponta Delgada being the first port of call in another Caribbean cruise this time 36 night long. A cruise that's sold out according to the P&O's website.
The last 2011 call of ORIANA in Ponta Delgada will take place in the 27th of October.

"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
