ORIANA anchored off Porto Santo island on the 1st May 2000, during a single call at this island, before heading to Funchal. 5 days later, on 6th May 2000, was the time for the ARCADIA of 1989 to call this small island located 40 miles northeast of Madeira. Those were the only calls of P&O ships in Porto Santo ever.
Text and Photos by Nuno Jesus.
Nuno Jesus a ship enthusiast born in Madeira Island, is long photographing cruise ships and ORIANA is no exception, having numerous photos of her in Funchal and of her unique call ever to the so called golden island of Porto Santo.
"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
