Today ORIANA is visiting Funchal, Madeira the first port of call on her present Caribbean transatlantic cruise from/to Southampton.Having arrived early morning in the bay from her homeport, as she started to turn towards the harbour a great amount of smoke was making out of the funnel in a very surreal way. Soon it went to normal, hopefully! I was getting worried, we don't want our ORIANA to end up as a artificial reef in the waters of her maiden port of call! Not fitting, on every way.Afterwards captain David Pembridge took the ship slowly into the breakwaters and then turned to starboard finally placing the engines astern leading ORIANA to her designated berth.Follwing this rainy full day call in Madeira, ORIANA will continue her cruise inbound St. Maarten, knowned to be the friendly island, as she's nicknamed.
After her Caribbean and southern US roundtrip she'll return to Southampton via Ponta Delgada, Azores. We recall that it's possible to check the ports of call of ORIANA until mid 2013 in our lists located bellow the presentation image. For me it's the last time i'm seeing her this year, on the next time i'll do she'll be adults only and a little different regarding to public areas. Nevertheless looking ever handsome, as her designers wanted her to be, 16 years ago. See you in 2012 ORIANA!
"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
