With ORIANA's refit entering its final stages and her return to service scheduled for 11 days time to begin a new stage in her career we briefly take a look back at the archives to ORIANA's earliest days from concept art to her arrival at Southampton and naming.
To conclude with we consolidate video footage from our Facebook ranging from her keel laying to her naming how her arrival was seen in the media.
Looking back at the anticipation, excitement and expectation of both P&O and their passengers we can see the importance of ORIANA as the flagship to lead P&O into a century and as a ship to which all others to follow would be measured against.
"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
