After a month being dry docked in the yard of Blohm + Voss ORIANA finally departed a little after 10:00pm (11:00pm local time) this evening aided initially by local tug PETER when reaching the main Channel of the river Elbe she was joined by tug FAIRPLAY who took up position at her stern.
Procceding at a speed of 10 knots ORIANA is currently on route to the North sea as shown below by her now functional AIS data.
ORIANA's course is represented here as the blue line,
Below are several images from the beginning of ORIANA's journey home.
Currently her webcam remains offline and P&O have yet to upload the revised deck plans to ORIANA's page at their official site.
While ORIANA's arrival at Southampton is still stated as 4:30pm tomorrow afternoon on the Southampton VTS website her AIS information is at present displaying a later arrival time of 00:01 on Monday 19th December.
"As with her cherished namesake and her sister the sacred CANBERRA, old acquaintance will be more than enough to ensure that whenever the great ships of Britain are brought to mind, another ORIANA shall now never be forgot."
