Memories and Mementos of a Maiden Voyage

On the 9th of April 1995 ORIANA departed her home port of Southampton for the first time on her 14 night Maiden Voyage.
For the departure Southampton turned out to give ORIANA a fittingly stunning send off complete with a flotilla of boats and and pleasure craft.
From Southampton ORIANA's first port of call was Funchal, Madeira before moving onto the Canary Islands of Tenerife and then Lanzarote before heading to Casablanca and Gibraltar.
Heading back North ORIANA would make to last calls in Portugal in Praia de Rocha and Lisbon

.....And recieves a warm welcome in Madeira.

During the cruise ORIANA prooved herself to be an success with all passengers being in agreement that P&O's investment had been a good one and would take the company proudly into the 21st Century.
For those on board it was cruise that none would forget especially for 200 who had previously travelled on board the first ORIANA
During the Cruise ORIANA was presented with many souvenirs from ports of call below is a scene of ORIANA receiving the coat of Lisbon as Commodore Gibb presents ORIANA's crest.

As well as ORIANA receiving gifts her passengers took the opportunity to purchase ORIANA Maiden Season memorabilia such as these show below.







And at the end of a successful cruise Commodore Gibb celebrated with the entertainers on the stage of the Theatre Royal.
